Hypothesis the pruritus of cholestasis: From bile acids to opiate agonists

Cholestasis of any origin can be complicated by distressing pruritus. Evidence that bile acid retention contributes significantly to this form of pruritus is unconvincing. However, endogenous opiate agonist ligands (e
