SGLS/TDRSS waveform comparison

DOD satellite control is currently implemented by several networks including the Air Force Satellite Control Network (AFSCN), the Navy Satellite Control Network (NSCN), and various dedicated networks. Alternative satellite control architectures are being considered to reduce cost. The use of relay satellites in future architectures has the potential for reducing cost and reliance on overseas ground installations. The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Tracking and Data Relay Satellite System (TDRSS) is being considered as a potential means of providing the space-ground connectivity that is currently provided by the Space-Ground Link System (SGLS) within the AFSCN. This paper compares the SGLS and TDRSS waveforms for interoperability.
