WSNs Failure Node Detection Method Based on Arithmetic Coding

Wireless Sensor networks  (WSNs) is a novel technology and hot research field about acquiring and processing information, which gradually gets the focus from the industries and academia in recent years and has a great application future in the military and civil area. WSNs is commonly deployed in harsh and unattended environment,together with the intrinsic limitation of sensor nodes, the entire network is sometimes unstable. In this paper, we present an approach for determining and locating failure nodes as soon as nodes are down when transmitting data messages via the arithmetic coding float number carried by those packets, the analysis and experimental results show both practicability and feasibility of this approach for its high detection rate, low misadjustment rate and tiny communication cost.
