A note on the influence of some factors affecting curvature in the flat rolling of strip

Abstract Curling of strip leaving a rolling mill may cause damage to equipment and also result in the strip not being of the required quality. In this work, factors affecting the curvature of a cold-rolled strip have been investigated and it is shown that it is possible to secure, under some circumstances, a straight strip even with asymmetrical conditions of deformation. Wrapping of the strip around the top roll is shown to occur at large values of thickness reduction.
