Comparative analysis of UFMC technology in 5G networks

The article dwells upon a new promising technology Universal Filtered Multi-Carrier (UFMC) for future 5G mobile networks. The technology is compared with OFDM technology used in 4G networks, and its effectiveness is analyzed. A disadvantage of OFDM technology is a necessity to use a cyclic prefix, which reduces data transmission rate. Due to UFMC technology, the cyclic prefix can be rejected, and thereby a spectral efficiency of mobile network can be increased in comparison with OFDM technology. Also, UFMC technology is less sensitive to estimation errors of frequency and time shifts.
