A novel method of ultrabroadband laser generation

Abstract A novel method of ultrabroadband laser generation is reported. It uses transversal shifting of the frequency components in the gain medium (dye). In order to obtain this shift, a special type of laser resonator with an intracavity grating pair is designed. The method is experimentally realized and an ultrabroadband (up to 30 nm) generation of a Rhodamine 6G nanosecond dye laser is obtained. The possibility to control the width of the generated spectrum is demonstrated.
