A basic assumption underlying our approach to the problem of meaning-representation in natural languages is that almost everything that relates to natural languages is a matter of degree. Viewed in this perspective, the classical two-valued logic does not provide a suitable basis for a comprehensive theory of natural languages and, especially, for the representation of meaning, knowledge and strength of belief.
