High precision absolute measurement of de Haas-van Alphen frequencies

A probe has been designed which allows for precise specimen alignment and for simultaneous observation of de Haas-van Alphen and nmr (27Al) signals. Careful correlation of the phase of de Haas-van Alphen signals with the centre of the nmr resonance leads to an absolute precision of order 1 part in 50000 for a selected dHvA frequency. Some measurements on copper illustrate the technique.
