1.4 deg.-rms 6-bit vector-sum phase shifter calibrating I-Q generator error by VGA for high SHF wide-band massive MIMO in 5G

1.4 deg.-rms 6-bit vector-sum phase shifter calibrating I-Q generator error by VGA for high SHF wide-band massive MIMO in 5G has been developed. Extraction of phase and amplitude error of I-Q generator and its compensation by VGAs are proposed. A 6-bit phase shifter using a poly-phase shifter as the I-Q generator is fabricated in 65nm CMOS. The phase error of 1.4 deg.-rms is achieved with the calibration.
