Prerequisites for using APS in S&OP and MPS processes

The purpose of this article is to identify prerequisites needed for achieving positive effects of APS usage in the SO planning environment including complexity, uncertainty, and vulnerability, APS design including modeling, system integration, and user interface and user characteristics including competence, organizational design, and planning data is developed and analysed in a single case study. The explorative case analysis identified a number of APS usage effects related to improved decision support, improved planning efficiency, and profitability effects. Streams of further research about APS usage and effects were also generated.
