ASSESSING MOTOR CARRIER POTENTIAL FOR IMPROVING SAFETY PROCESSES

This article demonstrates how assessing carrier safety management efforts together with the outcome of those efforts might be a useful approach that carriers, shippers, and the general public could take towards managing motor carrier highway safety. Motor carrier safety is modeled as a process involving a set of safety inputs that are used to generate safety-related outcomes or outputs, and a means to assess those outcomes relative to carrier safety management efforts are shown.
