Evaluation of Kinetics and Reaction Mechanism of Partial Oxidation of Glycerol

The partial oxidation of glycerol on platinum electrodes in MnO2 solutions by electrochemical methods was performed by means of cyclic voltammetry and multiple pulse amperometry techniques. High Performance Liquid Chromatography was used for quantitative analysis to determine the concentration of products formed. The obtained data were used to evaluate the reaction mechanism and kinetic model. Laplace transformation was applied to obtain the set of equations that describes the variation of glycerol and products concentration un function of time.
