A statistical model for monitoring electrical quantities

An approach to estimate of the trend, over a long time interval, of a given parameter X characterizing the operation of an electrical power system is proposed in this paper. The approach relies on a statistical model and allows to estimate the trend by processing a limited number of values of X measured at instants randomly chosen. The method proposed has been applied to both estimate the customer loads' profiles and the trend of some parameters providing information on power quality. The comparison between the estimated and the actual trends shows the good performance of the approach proposed.
