Probe measurements of the electron collision integrals in plasmas

The probe method for the measurement of the electron-atom collision integral in a plasma is described. The method is applied to the plasma of the positive column of an electrical discharge in helium. The collision integrals S0, S1 and the transport cross section of the elastic electron-atom collision are measured.
