Use of Electronic Resources in University Libraries of Karnataka State

Examines the use of electronic resources by faculty members and research scholars of universities of Karnataka State, India, in order to determine the level of use and different purposes of using electronic resources, and its impact on the academic community. A total of 604 questionnaires were distributed and 479 (79.63%) completed questionnaires were retuned, Survey responses were coded and input into Excel for analysis. Software Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) was also used for construct frequency tables, and calculate Mean, Standard Deviation and Co-efficient of Variation. The study emphasizes different aspects such as, the future of the library and information services in academic libraries depends upon major factors, like, availability of adequate manpower, which provision for continuous updating of IT skills and and allocation of adequate recurring grants to procure, update and maintain IT infrastructure and electronic resources.
