CHARTING A COURSE FOR INTERMODAL POLICY AND RESEARCH

The objective of this study is to provide a framework for intermodal policy and research at the Federal level, with a concentration on goods movement. This research identifies policies and actions -- including investments, regulatory changes, organizational changes and research activities, which are both important and highly leveragable. These activities offer the opportunity of moving the country in the direction of a unified, polymodal, freight transportation system.
