Design of ZigBee-based security network with motion detection and dynamic mapping

This paper presents a ZigBee-based security network with smart motion detection and dynamic mapping. The security system has four main components: a Graphical User Interface (GUI), a Coordinator, Routers and an End Device. The End Device is a motion-detecting module that is attached to the object being protected. The Routers are responsible for locating the End Device. The Coordinator initiates the network and is interfaced with the GUI. The GUI showed the real-time location of the End Device. In this paper, the calibration of the 6DOF motion sensor was done in order for the End Device to be not too sensitive to accidental bumps and other small movements to avoid false alarms. In doing this, the researchers calculated the percentage of the number of trials the alarm had triggered to the total number of trials in each of the movement categories. The researchers obtained a sensitivity of 0.56% to translational movements, 32.78% to rotational movements and 74.44% to lifting movements. ZigBee coverage testing...
