Visual Fatigue and Mitigation for Stereoscopic Image Observation

There are a number of problems in the observation of stereoscopic images created by using parallax,in which visual fatigue is a most critical one.By means of exploring the causes and symptoms of visual fatigue in parallax-based stereoscopic image observation, the influencing mechanism of inconsistent visual convergence and focus adjustment on visual fatigue are discussed.Based on this, four strategies to mitigate the visual fatigue for parallax-based stereoscopic images observation are proposed, namely,by reducing the eye burden,by limiting the inconsistency of focus adjustment and convergence to a reasonable bound,by avoiding excessive parallax and its discontinuous variation, and by utilizing lens correction.
