Design and application of versatile noise feedback requantizer with large fractional bandwidth, arbitrary center frequency, and real or complex inputs and outputs

We describe a technique to design noise feedback requantizer systems with large fractional bandwidth, of arbitrary center frequency, with real or complex inputs and outputs. Such a system performs as a preprocessor in a signal processing chain. Its function is to represent a digital signal, spanning a small fractional bandwidth, with a reduced number of bits. The advantage of this preprocessor is that subsequent digital signal processing can be performed with significantly fewer arithmetic resources due to the reduced number of input data bits.
