A Historical Overview of Human Factors in Aviation

Human factors in aviation are involved with the study of the human capabilities, limitations, and behaviors and the integration of that knowledge into the systems that are designed fir them with the goals of enhancing safety, performance, and the general well-being of the operators of the systems. The purpose of this paper is to provide a historical overview of human factors in aviation, starting pre-world war I and ending with 'the computer in the cockpit'.
