Transportation Projects Roadmap: 50 Notable U.S. Road, Rail, Port and Airport Projects

This feature lists 50 notable transportation infrastructure projects in the United States that are currently in some stage of planning, design, or early construction. The list includes 21 road/highway/bridge projects, 17 rail/transit projects, 7 port/waterway projects, and 5 airport projects. Within each category, projects are ranked by estimated cost. In addition to estimated cost, information is provided on project location, owner/sponsor, projected start and completion dates, and project website address. The tables also list if the project is design-build, design-bid-build, or a public-private partnership. While some of these projects have existed in some form of discussion or planning for many years, most are in initial phases of design or construction, with estimated completion dates as far off as 2024. Changing priorities and funding may fast-track some of these projects, while others may be delayed or even canceled, so this list should be viewed as a dynamic resource.
