Review and Comparison of Integrated Inductive-Based Hybrid Step-Up DC-DC Converter under CCM

Two recent step-up DC-DC converter topologies: dual-path step-up converter (DPUC) and KY converter (KYC), are theoretically analyzed and compared with the conventional boost converter (CBC), in terms of inductor current ripple, efficiency, output voltage ripple, and load transient response performances in this paper. Simulation results are provided to verify the theoretical analysis, in which the CBC obtains the highest power efficiency under heavy load condition, but the largest output voltage ripple and slowest load transient response. DPUC has fair power efficiency, output voltage ripple and load transient response. KYC has the highest power efficiency under light load condition as well as the smallest output voltage ripple and fastest load transient response.
