The golden ratio and Fibonacci, by Richard A. Dunlap. Pp. 162. 1998. £23. ISBN 981 023264 0 (World Scientific). This book will appeal to the members of the golden ratio special-interest group. It is a slim volume which assembles the main properties of the golden number r = (1 + V5) / 2 with much else besides. While it is written with as much clarity as the classic Divine proportion by H. E. Huntley, it covers a different slice of the golden section lore. In Chapter 4, for instance, the chapter addresses the golden section in three dimensions. One of the strong points of this book is the occurrence of T in the field of crystallography on which die author is an expert.
