Analysis of intrinsic dynamic distortions of a semiconductor laser in subcarrier multiplexed (SCM) lightwave systems

The performance of hybrid multichannel AM/QAM fiber-optic transmission systems based on the subcarrier multiplexing (SCM) technique is sensibly constrained by intermodulation distortions of the laser diode, which must be suitably considered to select system parameters. In this letter, an analytical model is proposed that leads to closed expressions for the power spectral densities of intrinsic dynamic distortions of a semiconductor laser. © 1998 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
