GEOTECHNICAL ENGINEERING EDUCATION AT UPORTO

In the academic year 1987/1988 a newspecialization profile in Geotechnics has been launched inthe 5 th and final year of the Civil Engineering degree courseat the Faculty of Engineering, University of Porto. After abrief introduction of the University and the Faculty, thispaper describes the geotechnical training that is provided atour school and reviews the results of almost 25 yearsexperience of education in this important area of CivilEngineering.Index Terms ⎯ Civil Engineering, FEUP, Geotechnics,UPorto.
