This paper presents the analysis of magnetic levitation force between a high temperature bulk superconductor and a permanent magnet. The 3D axisymmetric finite element method is applied for the calculation of macroscopic field equations constructed on the basis of the critical state model. The levitation force has been calculated by the Lorentz force equation, Maxwell's stress tensor method and the virtual work method. Computational results have been verified by comparison with the experimental data. From the comparison, the result by the Lorentz force is in strict correspondence with the experimental results quantitatively.
