Internet Information Literacy: Some Basic Considerations

The situation concerning information resources available through the Internet is treated from the point of view of training and professional development. Starting from information literacy and some relevant educational ideas, a few of the present A.'s findings regarding Internet users are presented. Some of the most obvious shortcomings of Internet information resources and the way they are organized are considered in the light of the changing role of the New information Professional especially as concerns quality improvements of Internet information. It is concluded that future information professionals must acquire new skills regarding networking and handling of electronic documents in order to meet the challenge of electronic information
