The Method and Criteria of External Visual Inspection for Plastic ICs

Currently, due to the advantage of the plastic ICs' size, weight, cost, availability,performance, technology and design, plastic ICs have been used more widely in the high reliability application, and there are a number of plastic ICs are applied to national defense fields.But the method and criteria of external visual inspection for plastic ICs continue to adopt the method and criteria for hermetic packaging ICs, so it cannot meet the screening requirements for the growing use of plastic ICs. Combined with Method 2009.1 "External Visual Inspection" in GJB548B-2005, the method and criteria of external visual inspection for plastic ICs is studied in this paper.
