On the Feasibility of DC De-icing Installation Without Converter Transformer

For the movable DC de-icing installation,it is a question whether there is any effect of it being without converter transformer on its characteristics and the stability of the system connected with it.The possible effects on the stability of the system as well as the AC filter,insulation coordination,and de-icing capability of the installation are studied in this paper with a 25 MW 6 pulse-circuit DC de-icing installation that has the typical structure and parameters of the movable DC de-icing installation.It is concluded that such small capacity DC de-icing installation is able to work well without converter transformer.
