The path loss characteristics for new wireless mobile communication systems in outdoor environments

This paper presents the measured and analyzed radio channel characteristics found in macro-cellular outdoor environments for the 700 MHz band. The path characteristics at 700MHz seem to be similar to those found at 900MHz, but can't be truly predicted without research. The path loss characteristics for each area have been exhaustively researched and compared to the WINNER+ model; simplified path loss models based on the WINNER+ model were then developed from the measurement results for outdoor environments. According to the comparison results, the path loss characteristics have different values in the suburban and rural cases, exceeding a 10 dB power level difference. We verified our measurement results by comparing the measurement and ray-tracing results.
