On the parsing of definitions

ThIs рарѳг describes a pilot project carried out In the Lexicology Subdepartment of the Free University ofAmsterdam In which definitions are parsed by means of a concept-oriented parser. The basic features of the system are explained and their relevance shown both for practical purposes (such as information retrieval and 'term generation'), and for theoretical purposes (glvlng notions such as frames/templates, types, re­ lations an explicit lexicological meaning).
