Modeling for Cyclic Normal and Shear Behavior of Interfaces

Constitutive models are proposed for normal and shear behavior of interface or contacts subjected to static and cyclic loadings. The models allow for effects of factors such as initial normal stress and density, amplitudes of normal stress and displacement, and number of loading cycles. They also account for various deformation modes, no‐slip, slip, debonding and rebonding. Laboratory tests using a new shear device are performed on dry sand‐concrete interfaces under normal, shear, and combined loadings. The constants for the models are found from the laboratory test results, and then the model predictions are verified with respect to laboratory tests and finite element calculations.
