The Edge Detection of Image Based on Mathematical Morphology

Mathematical morphology and its applications to image filtering and edge extraction are reviewed in this paper.Based on the definitions of morphological dilation、erosion、opening and closing,New morphology filtering and edge detection operators for gray image are proposed.High-frequency noise is restrained and SNR is improved, because that the detection operators of salient and concave are applied to image filtering.By combining dilation operator with erosion operator,a new edge detection operator is applied.Experiments on the real gray images show the new algorithms have high ability to remove noise and have better performances.
