Development of LabVIEW based electrical parameter monitoring system for single phase supply

This paper presents development of a real time remote electrical parameter monitoring system for the single phase supply in the LabVIEW environment. In this paper, the use of SCADA software like LabVIEW along with a low cost microcontroller based data acquisition system is presented for real time remote monitoring of important electrical parameters like root mean square voltage and current, peak-peak voltage, active power consumption and total energy consumed. For implementation of proposed scheme, parametric data values are monitored in the LabVIEW environment for the resistive load supplied from a single phase 220V/50Hz and are continuously stored in MS Excel database for data warehousing. The front panel information of recorded electrical parameter data and waveforms is continuously provided to the remote operator using web publishing tool of LabVIEW. This system can be further modified for real time monitoring of quality of electric supply by measuring parameters like form factor, crest factor, total harmonic distortion, line regulation etc.
