ICMP request message keep-alive control method and system

The invention discloses an ICMP request message keep-alive control method and system. The method comprises the steps of when the application program in a server works normally, receiving a startup instruction sent from the application program by invoking a keep-alive interface; according to the startup instruction, switching on a kernel timer to start timing; when the timing of the kernel timer exceeds a preset time and the keep-alive interface is not invoked by the application program during the timing period, judging that the application breaks down so as to be incapable of normally responding to the data service shunt from a shunt, and stopping replying to an ICMP request message. In this way, when the shunt cannot receive any ICMP protocol-based response message from the server, the shunt does not transmit the data traffic to the server. Therefore, the problem in the prior art that when the application program arranged in the server and used for providing services breaks down, one part of the services cannot respond to the request is solved.
