ON THE SEMI-ACTIVE CONTROL METHOD FOR TORSIONAL VIBRATIONS IN ELECTRO-MECHANICAL SYSTEMS BY MEANS OF ROTARY ACTUATORS WITH A MAGNETO-RHEOLOGICAL FLUID

Theaimofthispaperistopresentamethodofthesemi-activecontroloftorsionalvibrations inaworkingmachinedrivesystembymeansofrotaryactuatorswithamagneto-rheological fluid.Thesimpleopen-loopcontrolstrategyisproposedforamechanicalsystemvibratingin steady-stateoperatingconditions.Thissemi-activecontrolapproachisbasedontheprinciple of optimum viscous damping and frictional properties realized by the magneto-rheological fluid,whereitsrespectiveparametersaredeterminedbytheappliedcontrolelectriccurrents. Theanalysisisperformedtheoreticallybymeansofstructuralelectro-mechanicalmodelsof theconsidereddrivesystemaswellasexperimentallyusingalaboratorytestrigintheform of a rotor-shaft system co-operating with two asynchronous motors generating properly programmeddrivingandretardingelectro-magnetictorques.
