Application of HDF-EOS Data Format in Manipulating Spatial Data

The rapid increases of both the spatial data resources and their amount require standard toolbox for spatial data storage, format transformation, sharing, and distribution. Based on the well-accepted HDF (Hierarchy Data Format) data format for scientific data manipulation .NASA(National Aeronautics and Space Administration) developed HDF-EOS to manage and distribute EOS(Earth Observing System) data. HDF-EOS had been set up as the standard of EOS Data and Information System. This paper introduces the HDF and HDF-EOS data formats, data structure, and their usage.
