SUMMARY A general solution of the light propagation at the interface of uniaxial media is presented, which provides an effective method to analyze the Wollaston polarizer. A studyrelating to the light transmission, output angle and phase shift is demonstrated. Analysis ofa Wollaston polarizer imaging system shows that the Wollaston polarizer is able to not onlyproduce a high contrast and resolution interference image, also maintain the clarity quality image on the para-axial incident light. An experimental test of the optical alignment tolerance is under way. The theoretical result supports significant potential of Wollastonpolarizer in the optical industrial applications.ACKNOWLEDGEMENTI gratefully acknowledge the support from Dolan-Jenner Industries Inc., and givemy gratitude to Mr. Bernard Dolan and Mr. Naval Kapoor for their encouragement.
