Probe Vehicles Sample Size for Mobile Traffic Detection System

On the basis of researches on the world-wide probe vehicles sample size for mobile traffic detection system,authors analyzed shortcomings of existing products.Aimed at the conditions of uniform and non-uniform distribution of traffic flow density,using mathematical statistics method,bi-level sample size model of probe vehicles sample size on road network was established which took into account probe vehicle speed,calculation time interval and data precision.The result shows that if calculation interval is 5 min and traffic flow density is uniform on road network,probe vehicles proportion should be at least 5.0%.Otherwise,it should be at least 7.0%.
