The Internet of Things (IoT) is getting popular in everyday life. Various technical solutions are used to ensure the safety of numerous smart objects. However, social aspects regarding the security, the integrity, the privacy and the confidentiality of the transmitted and collected data should also be taken into account. A survey on user awareness in IoT security was conducted in Poland in 2017, with 251 participating respondents. The paper presents results of the survey with corresponding conclusions. The studies have shown that comfort and ease of use is more important for users than their security and the conclusions indicate that definitely more attention should be paid to user education. The Internet of Things (IoT) is getting popular in everyday life.
