Acquired Double-Chamber Right Ventricle in an Adult Due to an Aorto-Right Ventricular Fistula.

ABSTRACT Double-chambered right ventricle [DCRV)] is an uncommon congenital anomaly in which anomalous muscle bands divide the right ventricle into a proximal high-pressure and distal lowpressure chamber. Very rarely DCRV presentation for diagnosis and treatment occurs during adulthood as most cases are diagnosed and treated during childhood and usually does not recur. This case report describes a rare etiology for an acquired recurrent DCRV that presented in adulthood. An aorto-right ventricular fistula following closure of a subaortic ventricular septal defect with right ventricular outflow tract muscle resection during childhood triggered the development of an acquired DCRV.
