The making of dermatologic surgeons. The first decade of the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery.

The history of the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery is traced from its inception in 1970 to the present. Its positive influence on all aspects of dermatology has been demonstrated by the inclusion of dermatologic surgery in dermatologic residency programs and the annual meetings of the American Academy of Dermatology. Other related surgical societies, both national and international, have also been formed following the example of the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery.
