Through the arc sensing in GMA-welding with high speed rotating torch

The fast rotary deflection of the wire electrode allows the circular scanning of the weld pool with the arc. Comparative measurements and the evaluation of the process signals for the forward and the rear edge as well as the sides of the weld pool allow the integration of sensor modules for seam tracking, adaptation of tool orientation and gap width compensation. By application of the arc sensor system with rotating torch, the position and geometry of joint tolerances can be compensated during seam tracking of three-dimensionally curved weld contours in automated manufacturing.
