Fixed‐speed active‐stall wind turbines in offshore applications

A large offshore wind farm in the East Danish power system was commissioned in 2003 at Rodsand. The power capacity of the wind farm is 165 MW divided between 72 wind turbines. For this large offshore application, robust and well-known wind technology has been chosen in the form of fixed-speed, active-stall wind turbines equipped with induction generators. In this paper, maintaining and improving the short-term voltage stability is discussed and systematized in terms of this wind technology. Copyright © 2004 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
