소형화 광케이블의 최적화 설계

In cable industry, tube and sheath design of the fiber optic cable are important to provide the mechanical, thermal and environmental robustness needed to optical performance in rugged aerial and underground applications. To reduce the size, weight and manufacturing cost of these cables, however, the increase of fiber density and the miniaturization of the cable were needed. The finite element analysis is a very useful tool to accomplish this goal. This paper discusses the various mechanical design consideration and the different steps of development that led to a size-reduced loose tube optic cable with performance comparable to the lager cable.
