Induction Motor Drive System Based on ADRC and PI Regulator

It is difficult to develop an accurate mathematical model for the induction motor and the robustness of vector control system is poor. This paper proposes a new-type structure controller that adopts three first-order active disturbance rejection controllers (ADRC) and a proportional-integral (PI) regulator. The controller is not overly dependent on the accurate mathematical model of motor, so it can make the system inherently robust. The controller can also estimate and compensate the general disturbance of the system that includes the unknown internal dynamics and the external disturbance by the extended state observer (ESO), so the system can be reduced to a linear one. The introduction of PI regulator reduces the number of tuning parameters. Simulation results show that the proposed approach stands out especially in handling set point change, large inertia and rotor resistance variations, and external torque disturbance.
