An efficient skipping method of H.264/AVC weighted prediction for various illuminating effects

This paper describes a skipping method for handling various illuminating effects of video sequences. The weighted prediction of H.264/AVC improves coding efficiency and image quality. However, the weighted prediction of H.264/AVC requires massive computation overheads for entire systems, and thus, reducing the computation complexity becomes more important., the proposed method can decrease the bitrate down to 15% compared with that of the weighted prediction method of H.264/AVC. Moreover, the proposed algorithm can reduce the computation complexity to 30%, compared to the localized weighted prediction that does not skip unnecessary calculation.
