It appears that, contrary to findings with the general driving public, convicted drinking drivers report fewer accidents, violations, and suspensions in interviews than exist in official records. At least in the state of California, official DMV records are a much more suitable criterion of driving performance for drinking drivers than material obtained by confidential interview. /Author/
