Electronic device and controlling method therefor

An electronic device is disclosed. The electronic device comprises: a display; an input unit for receiving input of a user command; a memory for storing information associated with a device that a user possesses; and a processor for determining whether installation of an application executable in a multi-device is allowed on the basis of the information associated with the device that the user possesses, when an installation command associated with the application is input through the input unit, and controlling the display to display a result obtained by determining whether the installation is allowed.
