Design and application of a digital model of thyristor valves for real-time simulation

Abstrad This paper discu>sses the main features and characteristics that a thyristor valve model, should have when used in a real-time simulator for electromagnetic transient analysis. It presents the advantages obtained with the development of a Digital Valve Model compared with the most usual implementation technics being used today. The importanae of better represenrbtion is demonstrated by a simulator study involving commutation failures in a.n AC/DC inverter bridge.
